Function doesn’t have to take a back-seat to fashion when it comes to your favourite neck cosy. Here are three new ways to tie a scarf.

The Loop
Best For: Thin, lightweight wool or cashmere scarves

(1) Fold a scarf of any size in half lengthwise, leaving a loop on one side and the loose ends on the other.
(2) Place the middle of the scarf around the back of your neck, with the loop and ends in front of you. (3) Thread the loose ends of the scarf through the loop and pull them until scarf is comfortably snug.

Casual Triangle
Best For: Square scarves in light wool or silk worn over dresses

(1) Fold a square scarf from corner to corner, making a triangle.
(2) Loosely tie the two ends behind your neck, letting the point hang in the front.
(3) Pull the centre away from your chest and let it fall naturally.

Twist and Wrap
Best For: Long, bulky knit scarves or shawls

(1) Fold scarf in half lengthwise at least once.
(2) Twist the middle of the scarf two or three times, keeping loose ends at one side and a loop at the other.
(3) Wrap the scarf around your neck from front to back, bringing the ends to the front again.
(4) Thread ends through the loop.
