I bought the eyeshadow based on the magazine recommendation and picture however the actual colour is nothing like the gold shown in the pic above and the magazine. The actual colour is much more toned down and not shimmery at all and not really gold! Surely the recommended colour or similar should be used in the picture and not something completely different.

The images in the magazine are intended to show the application only, as different skin tones will obviously affect the resulting colour. However, there is a crushed version of this exact product on the same page and it's clear from this that the colour is browner and more matt.
If you're looking to achieve the shade in the image, I'd suggest you take the magazine or a print-out of this page to the Rimmel counter and try out their products until you get to this effect.
