advice on when and how to wax instead of shaving
Q: Waxing Instead Of Shaving?
Q: I really want to switch from shaving my legs to waxing them but I'm worried about the cost implications and also walking around with hairy legs between waxes. What should I expect?
A: Firstly, making this type of change should ideally be done in winter so that any hairiness between waxes can be hidden in jeans and longer trousers. So, if you're happy to wait, start the process around April or May next year. However, if you're determined to start waxing now, then bank on roughly waxing every four to three weeks (I wax every three weeks as my skin is pale and hair dark). But the good news is that once you had a few wax sessions you should start you notice softer hair that doesn't seem quite so scary when it starts to grow out.
Budget-wise, prices are going to differ hugely salon-to-salon so ask around and always get a quote before you book your appointment. To save on costs, book for a half-leg wax (from your knees down) that unless you have noticeably dark and course hair should suffice. And a big tip: before you go to the salon, exfoliate your legs in a gentle body scrub so that you rid your pins of any dead skin sitting in the surface and get super smooth results from your wax.
About this blog

Hello beauty junkies, I’m Helen, a contributing editor for WH and a beauty journalist – a dream job that I’ve had for the past five years. While I’ve always been make-up obsessed, I’m a naturalist; I love make-up that’s completely wearable rather than make-up that completely wears you. I love to share and will be sharing my best new beauty finds and user-friendly tips with you.

I shaved, used cream...decided too much effort and blades are so expensive... so i bought an electric(electricity) epilady with 2 attachments one a razor and one that rips...its basically the same as waxing..a little painful i have to say..but holding the skin area taut eases the pain while using the epilady.. ends up beautifully smooth, but beware if you do not hold the skin area taut it will cut you badly. Also to get rid of those ingrown hairs, just buff with warm water and soap and use cream to moisturize. No more razors for me and it lasts awhile also remember if waxing/using the epilady all the hairs grow at diff stages..so you might need to use the epilady for the odd stray hair that pops up in the week. Also note its more painful if you use it when your hair is long ooo or if you are feeling blue. ouch. Good luck.
