Are potatoes fattening?
Q: I feel potatoes make me fat. Is this true?
Q: I feel potatoes make me fat. Is this true?
A: This is a partly “yes”, partly “no” kind of answer. Potatoes are part of the ‘starch’ or carbohydrate family. As soon as they are digested, they are turned into glucose, the bodies’ most convenient source of energy. Our bodies need a regular source of carbohydrates to survive. To control our weight, we do however need to control our portions daily. So please don’t exclude them from your diet, but watch your portions, and make sure that you don’t smother them with butter or cream, which would really be bad for weight management.
Why not shop for your fresh produce at an organic market. Here are some organic markets in South Africa.
