Q: "I hear that dry shampoo is finally available in SA stores. Can it really make greasy post-gym hair look fresher?"

A: Think of dry shampoo as one of the cleverest hair cheats ever invented. Using it isn't going to mean your hair can go a few extra days without washing, but for occasions when you're pressed for time, it's a busy girl's best friend.

I love it for gym days when you have to get back to work with no extra time to wash and blow-dry my hair. But I still recommend pulling your hair into a smooth, low pony just for some extra polish – especially if you have fine hair that drops body as it gets dirty. Your best bet is to mist your dry shampoo gently all over your hair (hold the can about 30cm away from your hair) and then massage the product into your hair, leaving for a while to absorb any grease.

Another benefit of dry shampoo is removing odour from your locks. The morning-after a big night out, a bottle will really come in handy to get a smoky smell out of your hair (Tip: rough drying your hair with your hair dryer can also help with a spritz or two of dry shampoo afterwards to mask any stubborn smells).

Try Batiste Dry Shampoo, R35 for 50ml (available from Clicks stores) that is light and small enough to fit in a handbag.
