Q: How do I keep my hair healthy? I do Bikram yoga and it doesn't help my hair at all because of the immense sweating. I don't want to wash and blow dry it every day as that will damage my hair, any suggestions?

A: There’s good news for you! It’s a myth that washing your hair every day is bad for it, says hairstylist and owner of Shear Genius, Adri Hugo. But keep your hair type in mind, she cautions. "Because washing your hair every day will stimulate your sebaceous glands (these produce oil), if you have naturally oily hair, use a shampoo specifically for this condition," says Hugo. And with regards to blow drying, applying a thermal protective styling aid (such a heat protecting spray) to your mid-lengths and ends will help to shield your hair from the heat. And on days when you don’t need a salon-perfect do, we recommend simply rough-drying your hair (quickly drying off the dampness with your hairdryer means less heat on your hair) and then loosely plait your locks. When you’re heading out, undo your braid and you’ll have undone-looking waves that may just need a little shine spray or serum to look sexy but polished.
