I’ve had a busy week, and if you go to my blog, you can read all about last week’s happenings, including SA Fashion Week’s Summer Collections, held at the V&A Waterfront; the Positive Heroes fashion show held at Runway in Woodstock, Cape Town; and the fabulous Veuve Clicquot Yellow By Design art exhibition I went to at the Goodman Gallery One & Only… Whew!

As you can imagine, thinking of different outfits for a week’s worth of events can be a tad, erm, challenging, to say the least, especially when most of them start at 6pm and you have to go straight from work. Here’s my tips for quick changes that make dressing up easy and effective:

Go Neutral
Stick to neutral colours like black, grey or white. The ultimate is, of course, the LBD, which is super easy to dress up with vinyl leggings and heels, or down with a denim jacket and scarf.

Carry Lipstick
Always carry a red lipstick in your handbag – it’s the easiest way to go from blah to beautiful in less than five seconds.

Back-up Heels
As much as I love heels, my feet complain bitterly if I wear them the whole day, so I’ll often wear flats during the day and carry my ‘back-up heels’ in the car for later.
