how to eat and drink this christmas
How To Enjoy Responsibly
Many a Christmas celebration cannot be without Alcohol. Unfortunately alcohol can be a damper to your weight-loss ambitions as it can affect your waistline...
Below are some simple ideas to ensure that you can be social and not worry about the extra kilojoules you are consuming.
- Dilute your wine with soda water or sprite zero. This will reduce the calories. Alternatively add extra ice into your wine.
- Opt for dry red or white wine. Stay away from the sweet wines.
- Avoid ciders, fruity alcohol drinks. They are packed with calories and because they taste like juice, you will consume more than you should.
- Drink champagne. The bubbles will make you feel full and you will drink less. A glass is about 420KJ
- If you are drinking spirits, please measure with a spirit measure. Not the lid of the bottle. Spirits are packed with calories, so beware what you mix them with. Use diet sodas or water as a mixer.
- Avoid drinking beers, unless you choose a light beer such as Windhoek Light, which is less in calories and alcohol.
- Avoid creamy liqueurs.
- Avoid cocktails which contain fruit juice, cream, coconut milk.
- Enjoy responsibly.
