The holiday season is here and as we all know as much as it's a good time for family and friends eating, sharing and relaxing – it's never really a good time for our fitness routines and training.

Training tends to go out of the window over this time as we so often fall out of our usual routines over the holidays. And yes, while this is the time to relax and rejuvenate for 2011 we shouldn't lose our fitness gains and healthy eating habits completely.

What I usually say to people during this time is to do "everything in moderation". This is something my mom would say to me so often, and more and more I am really beginning to understand what she meant.

Over this December holiday period take the time to relax but be sure to not overindulge and under-indulge in the training. Try to get to the gym or walk or run a minimum of three times per week. If you're away try do some home-based programs or walking on the beach.

The next two weeks we'll focus on how to do this effectively. For now check out our workouts here!

But overall keep it all in balance and you will find yourself in a much better position come January 2011!
