Weight Loss
Recall of Weightloss Product
Beware of Popping Diet Pills
The Department of Health and the Medicines Control Council recalled the weightloss product Simply Slim due to the fact it poses significant risks. Simply slim was marketed as an herbal weightloss product, this means that it never was reviewed or tested by the MCC.
In South Africa any dietary supplement and herbal medication does not need to be registered with the MCC and this means that the safety and efficacy of these products are not established. The MCC tested various Simply Slim products throughout the country and found that it contained Sibutramine, which is a product that should be registered as a schedule 5 medicine, and can only be prescribed by a doctor. This ingredient was never listed as an active ingredient on the packaging. Sibutramine can cause heart problems. The MCC has received numerous complaints of serious side effects by this product.
What this means is be careful before buying any weightloss product, first ask your dietician or doctor. Losing weight is not as easy as popping a pill; it takes hard work, discipline and dedication. Rather stick to reading Women’s Health for healthier ways to remain fit and healthy.

And I was just about to place my order.
Spoke to an agent in my area who was slightly vague about product knowledge.
So all good that this has been removed.
Shocking !
I took this product for 2months and lost 6 kgs. however there were major sideeffects such as heart palpitations sweating, dry mouth, nausea, anxiety and insomnia to name a few.
I will think think twice before popping anymore pills to loose weight!
Thanks for letting us know. SImply Slim is an excruciatingly expensive "over the counter" compared to other so called herbal diet pills.
I tried it myself. Lucky for me there was a promotion during January and they sold half a month's pills for half the price and I decided to limit my financial input before committing to a pill, which, like so many others may not work at all.
I did lose weight, not as much as they said I would, but I also had some very worrying side-effects. I was irritable, anxious and nauseous on most days and I suffered from heart palpitations, dry mouth and dizziness. The moment my pills were finished, the symptoms disappeared, and that was when I decided not to spend the money again.
The other problem that I had with Simply Slim, was that they did not include an eating plan in my promotional pack (don't know if it was included in the full price pack). It almost seemed as if the idea was to suppress your hunger to such an extent that you only eat one meal a day at dinner time. I must admit, the appetite suppressants worked very well, and if it wasn't for the fact that I forced myself to eat something because I did not want to starve my body, I could probably have gone a whole day without food while I was on those pills.
My main consideration not to continue with the pills was the cost and the way it made me feel - never could I have guessed that the product itself was this dangerous. Listening to their advertising campaigns and reading about them on the internet, I never would have guessed that they were hiding very important facts that could have life threatening consequences. Just goes to show, there are a number of unscrupulous businesses out there who couldn't care less about your health, but only want to make money.
I guess the 7-month money back guarantee that Simply Slim gave to their customers should have been a warning sign - most other products I know gives you 30 days. Why only let you return it after 7 months if they are so confident that it works?
Thank you Women's Health!
Heart palpitations sweating etc after 3 days only ----3 tablets taken ----refund please as it has now been recalled & agents cannot help me ---but they were always available to take my money !!!!!!
I have been taking Simply Slim for 3 weeks now. No side-effects whatsoever except the one morning when I didn't eat before taking my capsule.
Reading the media reports the perception is created that every capsule contains Sibutramine, however I have it on good authority that it is way less than 10% of the capsules tested that contain Sibutramine.
I also experienced no side effects using Simply Slim, except for a dry mouth which the agents told me about when buying the product. I saw it as a positive, as it reminds you to drink plenty of water. To tell the truth, I'm actually disapointed that it's off the market-all this other over the counter herbal garbage is just a waste of money. I eat healthily and excercize every day, but what's a girl gotta do now to supress your appetite successfully? Anybody got any ideas which actually work ?
The best Appetite suppressant in my opinion is Hoodia Gordonii. It is a super safe substance so safe it is classified as a food, and it give energy.
I would recommend Super Slim hoodia Gordonii capsules found at www.salondearte.webs.com.
I need advice on which natural weight-loss supplements to use...im a 25 year old woman, fairly active and i only need to lose a few kilo's...
At the moment I use herbalex...but does it really do anything? I know that many of theses supplements are "all in the mind" but i need something to keep me motivated!!
What do you think of USN fat burning supplements, etc? Is USN more effective than Herbalex? Which one wont mess up my system?
The only way to loose weight is the HEALTHY way, NO PILLS, NO SHAKES, NO INJECTIONS......just a healthy eating plan based on your unique profile and dianostics.
I used diet pills to lose weight for a race and paid the price. Over the next year I put on more weight than ever and can't seem to get it off. I also had a baby and can't lose that, I want to go back to popping the pills, but I know it doesn't pay.
