running and knee injury
Q: Can I Run After A Knee Injury?
Q: I had a knee op a year ago, would you advise against starting a running program? I have not had such a program in the past, cycle and weights at the gym only.
A: If you had a knee operation, I’m assuming you have been to physio as well as completed full rehabilitation with a biokineticist. This is vital before you start any kind of training; otherwise the risk of re-injury is very high. Therefore if you have not completed rehab with a biokineticist, I would suggest that be your first step.
If you have completed your rehabilitation and the bio has cleared you to start training/running then you can definitely start a running program and the Women’s Health Running for weight loss program is a great program to start with.
You can start with the “Walk/Run” level and slowly progress to the “Run” level of the program. Alternatively, your biokineticist or sport scientist should be able to write a program for you more suited to your needs and goals.

I belong to a gym, does walking on the treadmill count? I also have arthritis.
