What To Wear To A Rock Concert
Are you one of the lucky few who managed to get tickets to U2? Or are you holding your breath hoping that Kings of Leon will show up for their concert? South Africa is getting a load of cool A-list bands heading our way over the next few months and it's high time we got the whole rock concert garb down-pat.
First, there are quite a few things to consider – obviously you want to look incredible, but the difficulties come into play when you consider the temperature change that will take place while you're there, the fact that you want your arms free for breaking it down and you're going to be on your feet for an age...
Taking all these elements into account the first thing that springs to mind is probably your tracksuit bottoms and a pair of slippers. However, you've still got to turn heads, so moving swiftly on from that idea our best advice would be to keep it simple, comfortable and chic.
Starting from the bottom up, ankle boots, either flat or with a slight heel, will protect your feet from enthusiastic dancers as well as give your outfit a bit of an edge. Paired with leggings or skinny trousers you're already halfway to rock 'n roll chic.
The top half is tricky. You want to be cool and free to work up a sweat, but afterwards it'll be cold. A light sleeveless vest and a casually draped scarf are the perfect accompaniment, with a leather or denim jacket for afterwards, just in case. You can also use the jacket pockets to keep your essentials, saves lugging a heavy handbag with you.
If you're out to make more of a statement, then who needs to look any further than festival style stalwarts Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. Okay, we know that we refer to them fairly regularly, but in this department, can they go wrong? If you've got the nerve (and the legs) hot-pants and flat ankle boots are a combination that will get you noticed. Wear with an oversized tee, waistcoat and (again) ever present scarf to complete the look.
Concert clothing is all about the art of looking great, while still being comfortable and free to give it your all on the dance floor. This once, scrap the heels, pull on the boots and some heavy eyeliner and you're good to go!
