what should your portion size be like
Portion Control
I have been receiving quite a few questions about the correct portion sizes that one should be consuming to keep the unwanted flab away. The only problem is that it is very individualised to how much energy one should consume on average as it has to a lot with height, body weight, age and activity level.
The amount of portions per food group is very individualised. That is why it is not advisable to follow a friend or family members calculated diet, as it will work for them, but not necessarily will work for you.
Don’t use the portions that the restaurants serve as a guide for recommended serving sizes, as they are grossly overemphasised.
A good guide to knowing a healthy portion size is to use your palm of your hand as a guide. Fruit should be no bigger than fist size, carbohydrates not more than a palm size and protein the same. A portion of vegetables is usually one cup for raw vegetables and half a cup of cooked vegetables.
This guide will allow you to make informed choices especially when out at a party, family gathering, functions and at restaurant. Eating healthy should not be difficult, it should become habit. If you need a more specific plan for your nutritional needs please go see your nearest dietician.

This really helps.
I snack alot... So If I had to eat an apple or celary stick instead of something unhealthy, do you think thet'd be fine? Or too many apples? (I really really snack alot)
