Will fat free affect my diet?
Is Fat-Free Really Better For My Diet?
Q: If a labels states that the product is “Low-fat” or “fat-free” does it mean it won’t affect my weight?
A: That is not the case at all. A low-fat product is often lower in energy than the same size portion of the full-cream variant. This is however not always true. Very often if manufacturers reduce the fat content of food, they add sugar, flour, or starch thickeners to improve flavour and texture after the fat is removed. These ingredients then add energy. It is important to always read the nutrition facts on labels, and look for foods that contain less that 10g of fat per 100g of product.
