Learn To Surfski

Where: Addington Beach, Durban
The X factor: Durban’s warm water creates the perfect nursery conditions for this social and strength-building sport. “Addington Beach is the best place to learn to surfski because it lies in the corner of the Durban bay, so it’s protected from the majority of the swell the comes up the coast,” says Barry Lewin, one of SA’s top surfski paddlers. “The beach is always clean and the facilities at the new Marine Surfski Lifesaving Club include everything a paddler needs, from showers to boat racks.”
Best for: Beginners and couples seeking a relationship-building sport.
