The Right Bra For Your Sport
There's nothing worse than bouncing around when you need to be tightly strapped in for your sport. Finding the right sport's bra for you and your routine can be super tricky as everyone is different. To try and help you make a choice, we asked some Women's Health ladies (who range in cup sizes) to test out a couple of bras for their sport or fitness routines and give feedback on what worked best for them.

Sport - Various
I use the shock absorber for any sport. But I especially love it for mountain biking and running. Nothing moves when I have this bra on!
Size
34 C
Rate your bra out of 5 (5 being the best)
Rates a 5 for any sport. It offers great support and is comfy too. Apparently when you run, your breasts move in a repetitive figure of 8 movement. Shock Absorber have created a specific bra with enhanced support (called the Infinity-8 support system) which offers enhanced support.
Chafe Factor
The bra is seam-free and the elastic below the arms is concealed which prevents any chafing.
Cool Factor
I just love it because it offers the best support of any bra I have found.
Support Factor
I give it a 5 and a half out of 5. The best support ever!
Design
I wouldn’t say it is exactly “pretty” but it is functional and practical. I give it a 4.
Fabric
I found the bra very comfortable, and it is made from “wick dry” material so reduces sweating.
Cost
R169

When you do reviews like this, you should also give us the sizes that the bra is available in. I wear a 32E and have much trouble trying to find, not only sports bras, but normal day-to-day bras in this country.
In terms of lingerie, there is a severe lack of pretty and sexy underwear for women who wear big cup sizes - most stores stock only up to D or DD cups. Where you can find cup sizes that are larger the bras are usually in basic colours (beige, black or white) and very plain.
I have found a british based company, www.bravissimo.com, which caters for women with cup sizes D and upwards and which ships to South Africa. Their stuff is gorgeous and even with the exchange rate and shipping costs their prices are comparable to the top-end ranges that we find here. They are cheaper than specialist places like Pandora's Bra Studio (which I have also tried).
I've tried one of the sports bras from bravissimo and have found it better than anything that I have tried here (for the first time in my life, I can run with abandon and not worry about bouncing) I would rate it a 5!
I'm always looking for jiggle-proof bras - thanks for excellent article - greatly appreciated
The NEW BALANCE bra's are fantastic, either white or black - try any independent running store.
This was a great article - could the selected stores where they are available be added next time? A article to rate yoga/exercise mats would also be great since a wide range is hard to find.
Hi F
It's really difficult to give sizes as often they only come in small, medium or large which really doesn't help judge your size. Thanks for your comments though, we will keep it in mind.
Where can I get a good sportsbra for running in a size 38C?
thanks for the review. F I understand and feel your pain - none of the larger underwear manufacturers in SA have sports bras for bigger cup sizes. Its almost like the bigger breasted girls should be doing sport! whats with that? but in saying that it seems like there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I know about Bravissimo and there bras- fabulous and I handle my bras from them with care. Go check out www.treasurechest.org.za - locally made and from D cups upward and they have just launched a sports type bra. There is also storm in A-G cup if you are in CT area, they should also have a website.
good luck and your are not the only busty babe wanting to exercise!
Thank you very much for the article. Am looking for a sportsbra for running and gym. definately know what to get now.
Great help, for myself, friend and family. Hardest thing is to spend money on a costly sports bra that does NOT give the support you expect!
so does anybody know of a exercise we can do to help reduce the size of our busts, so maybe it will be easier to find a bra that fits?
