women's health try out workout classes
Exercise Attitude Adjusters
In our April issue, you read about six members of the Women's Health team who took up the challenge to be your guinea pigs: we sent them off to attend exercise classes for 12 weeks, to see if it would change their attitudes to working out, and what it would do to their bodies. They sweated, lifted, boxed, ran, stretched and danced the weeks away – and lost a few kilos (and gained some happiness) in the process. But now that the challenge is over, are they still motivated to work out?
When our challenge ended, I joined the gym – and usually would have given up by now. But I’m making it to gym at least twice a week – usually three times – and am doing a variety of classes, including core classes, step and even spinning! I’m working towards doing a 5km fun run, so bought myself new running shoes. I can now keep going on the treadmill a lot longer than before – and I love it! I've lost another 2kg and dropped a dress size, and that’s even more motivation for me to keep going. I miss gym if I don’t get to go twice a week, and find myself getting frustrated if I can't make it. I'm a new person!
