Surprisingly, new brake pads have the tendency to squeak if they are not bedded-in... Therefore it is imperative that slow braking action is carried out during the first few kilometres after a brake pad replacement has been carried out. Dirt increase or a foreign object could be the cause as well.

However, brake squeaking can also occur, and this is very common, due to uneven or glazed brake disc surfaces. This can result into a vibration between the brake pad backing plate and the brake caliper resulting in squeaking. The solution in this case would be to have the brake discs skimmed or replaced.

When replacing brake discs always match them with the vehicle manufacturer's recommended brake pads to maintain maximum safety and trouble-free motoring.
