FAST FACT: Contraceptive Weight Gain
The truth about birth control and weight gain
Birth control really can cause weight gain, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology reports.
The worst offender is Depo-Provera, the contraceptive shot. Depo contains a synthetic hormone that keeps oestrogen levels low, preventing the release of eggs.

I'm turning 34 this year. I'm using the 'Mirena' as a contraceptive. I've picked up more than 10kg in te last four months, my skin brake out all the time and it looks like adult acne, I have headaches everyday of my life and so the list goes on and on. Surely this is not normal to have so many side effects and changes on a contraceptive?
Any advise will be appreciated.
I've been on Mirelle for the last five years and since then struggled to loose weight. I've pick up 15 kg and is frustrated. Please let me know it there is an alternative pill that I can use that doesn't have the same effect.
