Your Breasts – Normal or Not?
Are Your Breasts Normal?
Short of Barbie, no one has perfect breasts (not naturally, anyway). Here's the lowdown...
Having asymmetrical breasts is much more common than you might have thought.
"It's extraordinarily abnormal to have two identical breasts," says Gynaecologist Dr Mary Jane Minkin. In fact, it's common for a woman to have one boob that's a full cup size bigger than the other one.
"Your breasts are two different organs – just like your kidneys – that separate during development," clarifies Dr Todd Malan. "Each one reacts differently to various hormones and develops its own amount of tissue and fat."
The bottom line: Having one slightly fuller boob is totally normal. The only reason to bring the size difference to your physician's attention is if one of your breasts suddenly becomes much larger than the other, which is a possible sign of an infection or a tumour.
