Diet Drinks Not All That Bad
Don't sweet it, aspartame isn't that bad after all...
Good news about your diet fizzy drink: despite concerns about a reported link between aspartame and certain cancers (leukemia, lymphoma and brain cancer), a study from the US National Cancer Institute has found no relationship between the artificial sweetener and those diseases. Researchers surveyed the food and beverage consumption of 340 045 men and 226 945 women from 1995 to 2000 and found that the development of the three cancers in aspartame users was no higher than it was in non-users.

That is good news, but what about the links of aspartame to Systemic Lupus and Multiple Sclerosis? Also I have read that it is supposed to cause inflammation in joints etc. I have cut out all "sugar free" and "light" or artificially sweetened diet products from my diet for 6 weeks now. I am a chronic pain sufferer and have taken prescription pain medication every day since 1987. I have not needed any pain intervention at all in the last 2 weeks. I am also following the Low GI lifestyle for the past year already. Co-incidence? I don't know....
