Get your assistant to do admin for you
How to Get Your Admin Done
Delegating isn’t easy. Here’s what admin you can – and should – pass on to someone else.
We all have loads of admin on our hands and delegating isn’t always easy. "But when you get it right it’s profoundly freeing,” says Julie Morgenstern, author of When Organizing Isn’t Enough. Here’s what admin you can – and should – pass on to someone else.
Stuff You Dread
For some people cooking is admin: pick up a ready-meal from Woolies and pretending you slaved over it. For others, it’s cleaning: unless you’re one of those women who find taking a toothbrush to the bathroom tiles relaxing, hiring someone else to do it is money very well spent.
Stuff That’s Repetitive
Doing expenses, ordering lunch, and making travel arrangements are tasks that can just get in the way. Even if it takes half an hour to explain to an assistant that you hate avo or prefer an aisle seat, it will save you time in the long run.
Stuff That’s Been On Your To-Do List
Arranging shoeboxes of photos from your pre-digital days in albums, for instance. It isn’t going to happen if you leave it to yourself, so pawn the task on an organising service (check out www.getorganised.co.za).
