Maximise Summer at Work

That summer feeling is great, the weather is fine, everyone’s in a good mood and then there’s work. But you don’t have to stay in the office the entire day and the good news is that longer daylight hours means more time outdoors before and after work.

Did you know we are better people when we are immersed in nature, according to a series of experiments by researchers at the University of Rochester? People who were more intensely engaged with nature in the study were more likely to value connectedness with other people and contributing to their community, and they were more generous.

So having a stressful day, then try some of these things…

  1. Get Up Early
  2. Feel the Wind on Your Face
  3. Yoga at Your Desk
  4. Walk at Lunch
  5. Picnic in the Park
  6. Outdoor Meetings
  7. Plan for After Work

Get Up Early

iStock_000007010512Small.JPGGet up earlier and exercise because the sun is up. It’s safer and it energises you for the day ahead. Exercise also boosts confidence. Try not go to the gym every day. Instead go for a run, get on your bicycle or join an outdoor boot camp or yoga group. Did You Know? The morning is the best time for doing yoga. Your ability to perform is lowest in the morning; better to keep your exercise less intense in the am hours. Good news is you can go for longer. When your core temperature gets high, fatigue sets in. Your inner thermometer is lowest in the morning, so it will take you longer to overheat. So wake up super early gals!
