You may never have to untag yourself again

Think happy thoughts
Instead of faking a plastic grin, think of something that puts a genuine smile on your face. “For me it’s cashmere sweaters in crisp tissue paper fresh from the store,” says TV style guru Carson Kressley.

Take control of the situation
You prefer your right side, but you’re stuck on the left in a group shot. What do you do? “Make everyone else move!” Kressley says. “Don’t be afraid to direct when necessary.”

Open up
Ask the photographer to have you close your eyes and let her count to three. On three, open. “This also works to fight off squinting if you’re outside on a sunny day,” says celeb wedding photographer Joe Buissink.

Get a better view
When using the one-arm self-portrait technique, pay attention to your angle. “A low camera angle is not flattering for anyone,” says photographer Andrew Grant. Position the camera at the middle of your forehead and tilt it down.
