Who said you have to stick to chocolate and champagne to get you in the mood. Try these sweet treats that will also do the trick...

Espresso Biscuits

Ingredients
150g butter
75g icing sugar
1 egg
25ml vanilla extract
250g cake flour
Pinch of salt
2 tbsp freshly ground espresso beans

Method
Preheat the oven to 180˚C. Cut the butter into cubes and place in an electric mixer, beat the butter until pale and add the icing sugar, egg and the vanilla and mix until totally combined and smooth. Add the flour, salt and espresso beans and continue mixing. When the dough comes together, form it into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and allow to rest for half an hour in the fridge. Divide the dough into walnut size pieces, shape and place on a prepared baking slide. Bake for seven to 10 minutes, remove from the oven and allow to cool on a rack.

Makes 25-30. Per 22g serving: 418kJ, 5g fat (3g sat), 25mg sodium, 11g carbs, 0g fibre, 3g sugars, 1g protein.

Lemon Sorbet with Vodka Marinated Plums

Ingredients
2 plums, sliced
1/4 cup good quality vodka, chilled
2 tbsp castor sugar
1/2 tsp lemon zest
Lemon sorbet

Method
In a bowl, combine the plums, vodka, sugar and lemon zest. Stir together until the sugar dissolves. Place the plum mixture in the fridge for at least 20 minutes. Spoon the sorbet into dessert glasses and top with a few plum wedges and a little marinating liquid. Serve as an easy dessert after a romantic dinner or increase the recipe and serve in shot glasses as a cocktail party dessert canapé.
