Aiming for food quality rather quantity may be your best bet if you're trying to drop kilos, reports a Harvard School of Public Health study. Researchers found a direct link between specific foods and beverages and weight gain or loss. One possible explanation: “Different foods and beverages affect hunger and fullness differently, and how hungry or full you feel can impact how much you eat,” says study author Dr Dariush Mozaffarian. "Trying to eat everything in moderation won’t be as effective as focusing on consuming a more healthy diet in general." Here are the top foods that affected the scale (in both direction):

Top Foods For Weight-Loss

* Yoghurt
* Nuts
* Fruit
* Whole grains
* Vegetables

Top Foods For Weight Gain

* Chips
* Potatoes
* Sugar-sweetened beverages
* Unprocessed red meat
* Processed meat
