Motivate to Lose the Weight
The four best ways to stay steady on your weight-loss path.
The four best ways to stay steady on your weight-loss path are...
1. Lift the Weight You’ve Lost
A great way to keep yourself from sliding into what-the-hell eating mode when your weight-loss plateaus: use dumbbells that correspond to the number of kilos you’ve already dropped. You can’t possibly forget how far you’ve come when you’re straining to complete three sets of triceps kickbacks with a five-kilo weight. Feel how much you’re struggling to lift? That used to be on your butt!
2. Get Gabbing
Reams of studies prove that support from other people can keep you motivated to lose weight. And a new study from the University of Kansas shows that dieters who get counselling over the phone lose just as much as those who get it face to face. So if you can’t make that 5pm Weight Watchers meeting, get on the phone to someone who will motivate you.
3. Call on Your Inner Cheapskate
You don’t blow off the dentist, even though having your teeth drilled is about the most un-fun thing you can imagine. Why? Because you’ll get charged whether you show or not. Consider buying a package of personal training sessions and scheduling all your appointments now. Ditto with yoga or dance classes: buy a bunch in advance and sign up at the same time. Who would throw away workouts that are already paid for?
4. Become a Class Regular
Join a group exercise class and make friends with your fellow regulars. Seeing your pals will inspire you to attend even when you feel like playing hooky. The guilt factor – always highly motivating – can help here too. After all, in a place where everybody knows your name, they’ll also know when you’ve missed a workout.

I workout alone and have no source of support when it comes to weight loss or fitness. I struggle to find people who can gym with me. Would your mag consider setting up a program, let readers follow the program and give regular feedback to you and the website? It will be a great motivation knowing that im not doing it alone and a great way to keep me doing and not slacking down.
Hi Mia,
I know how you feel. I gym alone as well so i have no motivation i try to go every day but some days i just really lack the inspiration.
I have been gyming now for almost 3months and ive only lost 3kg i feel like my hard work is for nothing. Am i training wrong or am i just not eating properly??? I have alot of weight to lose as well.

Hi Bianca.
3Kgs in 3months doesn't seem shabby to me at all!!!
Keep going, you're doing well.

guys, if you want the weight to literally melt away- join Transfit
(www.transfit.co.za) . You will see AMAZING results. I have
been there for 4 months and feel incredible. Really worth it if you want to loose weight and get fit!!
I took up spinning with a friend and am very glad to say that I have stuck to it for a year (through winter), getting up at 4:30 am three times a week! I haven't lost much weight, but I do feel better and it's also been good time to connect with my friend!
The guilt of leaving him pedalling alone is more painful than opening my eyes so early. Find a friend/ partner to join you in the activities. Being answerable to someone else is half the battle won.
Hey, i am always looking for a gym partner, training alone is very demotivating.
so if anyone is in the JHB area and trains at Virgin, let me know
Im a student and juggling between university, late nights studying and a job, my diet goes downhill with quick meals and exercise is limited. Is there anything that can be done that gives great benefits of exercise in limited time?
I would definitely recommend joining a class at the gym. I started spinning classes with a friend in Feb this year and now I am a total spinning junkie – I go to 4 classes a week. Although my friend drops me quite often I have made friends with the people in my class so I rarely miss a spinning session. The plus side to my love of spinning is that with the help of my doctor I have managed to lose 14kgs in 6 months and I have never felt better! I am 10kgs away from my goal weight and the results from spinning classes have kept me motivated – so definitely think about joining a gym class.
Losing on weight is very important for your health. You can have even more healthier teeth.I take care of my teeth and I go frequently at a dentist.Last time I was searching like crazy for Tucson invisalign cabinets for a consult.
