How The Challenge Worked

1/ All about the fitness
While some of the women wanted to lose weight, this challenge wasn’t about dropping kilos or centimetres – it was about getting fit and healthy and enjoying all the perks that come with that.

2/ Just one thing…
We didn’t put the participants on any kind of diet. All they were required to do was exercise at least twice a week for 12 weeks. Why? Because when you try to change too many things at once, it can sometimes feel overwhelming and that’s when you end up cheating or falling off the wagon entirely. But if you make just one healthy change, often that sparks other changes down the line. And many of the WH team started making other healthy changes as the weeks went on.

3/ The power of the group
Yes, the team would’ve had amazing results had we paired each woman with a personal trainer, but we wanted this to be bigger than just the challenge. Becoming “part of the tribe” can be a huge motivator – you feed off the group’s energy, make friends and fitness starts becoming a social activity that you want to stick with.

4/ Measure your progress
There’s nothing more motivating than looking back and seeing how far you’ve come. We took “before” pics but because the challenge was about fitness rather than visible weight loss, we also teamed up with Discovery Vitality and sent all the participants for fitness assessments at their Discovery Store. Tests included strength, cardio fitness, balance, flexibility, blood pressure, blood glucose, waist circumference and BMI.
