Yoga poses to smooth cellulite
Yoga to Get Rid of Cellulite
Wipe out cellulite with a couple of easy yoga poses
Besides whipping your leg muscles into sexy shape, yoga can help smooth spongy thighs too. “Cellulite is a symptom of reduced lymph circulation,” says weight-loss expert Atma JoAnn Levitt. For those of you who skipped biology class, lymph is the bodily fluid that contains white blood cells.
“Yoga [helps] lymph flow more freely through fatty areas, flushing toxins and reducing cellulite,” Levitt says. Inversions, or upside-down poses, like these two are especially good for moving lymph along.
Shoulderstand, modified (ardha salamba sarvangasana)
Lie on your back with your arms by your side. Bend your knees and rock your legs up, bringing your knees to your forehead and placing your hands under your hips to support them. Keeping your elbows on the floor, hold for eight to 10 breaths. Then slowly release your knees and roll gently back onto the floor. Learn this pose from a teacher before attempting it on your own. Then practise it once every other day.
Plow pose (halasana)
Begin in half shoulderstand (above). Now straighten your legs, extending them back out over your head, and rest your toes on the floor. Straighten your arms on the floor, palms down. Hold for eight to 10 breaths, before bending your knees back to your forehead and lowering your body down onto the floor.

PLEASE CAN YOU EMAIL MORE MOVES ON YOGA
Please can you provide pictures of the two yoga moves you provided here? Please let know if you can. Thanks a lot
Hi there.. Do you have a yoga dvd I can buy, as it is better for me to exercise while watching movements on tv as to read it from a paper. That would be great! Enjoy your day.. ;-) Z
Hi there
All our moves are in Poses in this section. We will however be linking them to the articles soon!
Click on the blue poses/headers in the article and it will take you to the explanation
Interesting article
Contraindications are not listed for these postures, and they should be. Inversions should not be done by those with high blood pressure, glaucoma, or women who are pregnant and have never done yoga before. They should also not be practiced by women while menstruating. Also in both of these postures it is important to never turn the head, it should be kept in line with the spine.
Nothing, not even a DVD, substitutes for the instruction of a qualified yoga teacher.
Your descriptions of an advanced pose as Salamba Sarvangasana are partial and incomplete. This is an advanced pose and to prevent injuries, one needs to follow all 8 steps in and out. I agree with the previous writer advising about all the contraindications. Menstruating and pregnant women should not attempt this pose, people with high blood pressure, detached retina, eye operations, neck injuries also should consult with their doctor before attempting advanced asanas as Salamba Sarvangasana!
I have been Ashtanga yoga practitioner for some time and every time when a student attempts to enter an advanced pose like this one, a set of precise instructions is followed to ensure that the asana will work for them and not injure them.
Also, promising to "wipe out" cellulite with few yoga asanas only is misleading and creates unreasonable expectations with the students.
Yes, yoga is highly beneficial on many levels and for many practitioners does lead to reduction of weight and other esthetic outcomes, which should only be seen as the first starting point of this powerful healing art - yoga.
Thank you
