Yoga's Fringe Benefits
Yoga isn't just a hip way to get a lean bod. It has great health perks too...
Research shows that doing a gentle yoga workout most days of the week can relieve back pain and boost energy. And those benefits are long lasting: in a study at the West Virginia University School of Medicine, people who attended a weekly yoga class and practised at home reported 70 percent less lower back pain after three months.
What's more, 88 percent of them either used less pain medication or stopped taking it altogether (only 35 percent of a yoga-deprived control group did).

I can believe this, I've experienced all of the above since I've started yoga. I've even convinced my mom to join me to help with her back pain. I've even found that it's more gentle on joints than regular exercising but just as good in terms of getting toned.
I have always wanted to start with yoga. But would love to go to a class to get me going. But have not found one here yet. Could anyone recommend a good yoga dvd, that is detailed enough for a beginner. But also that will keep you interested to want to keep at it.
