8 Apps That’ll Make Your Life A Whole Lot Easier
I love apps. I’ve got one that helps me budget, one to help me sleep, two to help me be more mindful, one to track my period – the list goes on. Honestly, what was life even like pre-smartphones? Um… I think I remember being disorganised, unprepared and totally clueless about what I wanted my dream bedroom to look like (thanks Pinterest).
Now, thanks to the wonders of technology, we don’t need to worry about planning our days, asking for directions or getting a ride at the last minute. Apps are helping us simplify everyday tasks – both personally and professionally. Here’s a range of apps you won’t regret adding to your phone.
I’ve been using this app for about four years and now I can’t do without it. It’s actually gotten to the point where it can accurately predict my period – no more guessing. Got a ton of things on your to-do list, but can’t seem to stop strolling through Insta or your Twitter feed? I’ve tested loads of productivity apps, but this is a fave. You set the amount of time you want to be productive; the plant represents the time (you can’t use exit the app during this time). As long as you’re productive, your planet will grow.
Want to cut your time short? Be prepared to lose your plant. This was enough of an incentive for me to make it through my set time. And the more time you spend using the app, the bigger your forest grows. Now you can literally see the fruits – err plants? – of your labour.
If you’ve been meaning to get into meditation, this will help you stick to it. Calm is a simple mindfulness app that’s super easy to use and offers great guidance so you can finally nail meditation. It has a variety of free and paid programs to help you sleep, meditate and practise breathing techniques.

This app is a favourite among fitness fanatics. It’s great for helping you monitor your weight loss and fitness goals by taking out the guesswork when it comes to calories. With a database of over five million foods, it’s easy to track your macros. And when you’re done tracking at the end of the day, it gives you a rundown of calories consumed and burnt – and predicts how much you’d weigh if you maintain your eating habits.
Simply called sleepo, this app helps you do just that. If you’re like me and need some assistance getting to sleep, this will help. A variety of sounds assist with getting a peaceful night’s rest. Plus: You can layer multiple sounds to create your unique sleep soundtrack, set the timer and slip off into dreamland. A personal fave is aeroplane noise mixed with the sound of a fan.
This app isn’t available on IOS but this one is pretty similar.
